4:00 PM PhST Friday, October 26th | Philomathean Hall, 4th Floor College Hall (Please enter by the East Entrance, across from Fisher Fine Arts Library)
Join the members of the Philomathean Society as we welcome Julian Siggers to our weekly Tea. Siggers is currently the Williams Director of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Throughout his career, Siggers has been a pioneer in advancing public engagement with museums and archaeology. He pursued new forms of exhibition, publication, programming, broadcasting and digital media, including partnerships with government agencies and a weekly show on the Discovery Channel, and he directed a Dead Sea Scrolls project that drew the museum’s highest attendance in two decades. He was also a valuable part of the team responsible for fundraising initiatives, especially during a highly successful $300 million capital campaign. In addition to enhancing museum attendance and popularity, Julian Siggers was also integral in unveiling information on the Ice Man’s tattoos and, by extension, the cultural practices of that era.
Come to tea and meet the man who tattooed himself with cow bone in the name of archeology.
